In Mozambique’s Gorongosa National Park, conservation goes hand in hand with community upliftment. Through the Gorongosa Restoration Project (GRP), local and international teams work together to protect biodiversity, empower people and build resilience. But as the organisation has grown, so has the need for a robust system to support its operations.
That’s where epic ERP comes in.
In early 2025, the GRP team began rolling out Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Supply Chain Management (F&O), with implementation support from epic ERP. The goal? To streamline financial processes, enhance supply chain efficiency, and – most importantly – manage projects more effectively.
A system that makes sense
Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O was chosen for its powerful combination of capability and scalability. Its asset management functionality helps ensure the park’s infrastructure and equipment are maintained effectively, while its high transaction capacity and user-friendly design make it easy to adopt and scale. Built-in CRM tools help the GRP team stay connected with donors and stakeholders, and Power BI enables real-time reporting to support strategic decisions.
Crucially, the platform integrates seamlessly with the Microsoft ecosystem, making it easier for the organisation’s various teams to collaborate and share data.

We spent time investigating the true scope of the project, working closely with GRP to understand its unique pain points and complexities. Our consultants bring deep cross-industry experience – many with MBAs or engineering degrees – and a strong track record of crafting solutions for multifaceted environments.
On track and on budget
The implementation is progressing well. Our first Conference Room Pilot (CRP) – Microsoft’s version of a Proof of Concept (POC) – took place at the end of March and was met with enthusiasm from the GRP team. Super-user training kicked off in May, with users showing strong adoption of new processes and a clear understanding of the system’s potential.
The second CRP included real transactional data, including open Accounts Payable (AP) items, giving the team a more accurate view of how the system will perform at go-live. Despite a few expected teething issues, collaboration between the teams has been excellent.
Next Steps
The last CRP was led by GRP, giving the team the opportunity to demonstrate how the system worked in practice. This phase also included data migration and the start of end-user training, which took place in parallel with final preparations for go-live.
The superusers began training all the end users — a process that went very well. Each day, the GRP team learned more and started to experience the positive impact of Microsoft D365 F&O in easing their workload.
Through strong collaboration, clear timelines, and a shared sense of purpose, the Gorongosa ERP project stayed on track — within budget, on schedule, and with great energy throughout.
UAT was successfully kicked off and completed, with full sign-off obtained. Microsoft then commissioned the production environment in readiness for go-live.
Following a successful mock go-live and final preparations, the team faced a stressful but exciting time as everything came together.
Finally, the big day arrived — and the system went live!
